Musical education
The German Philharmonic Orchestra Rhineland-Palatinate has also made young people its business from toddlers to teenagers, communicating with them and offering them their own specific programme.
Since the 2005/06 season, under the aegis of Concert Educationalist Jochen Keller, the German Philharmonic Orchestra Rhineland-Palatinate has realised the Listen To Our Future educational programme. In addition to visits to schools and kindergartens, concerts for children and concerts for pregnant women and nursing mothers, guided tours of the philharmonic (from touring lorry to the percussionist’s treasure trove) are all offered.
The interactive children’s homepage www.listen-to-our-future.de, unique of its kind in the whole world, supplements the concert educational programme of the German Philharmonic Orchestra Rhineland-Palatinate virtually with great success: after only 200 days in the world wide web, the German Philharmonic Orchestra Rhineland-Palatinate was able to notch up a visitor record of 100,000. 2008 the educational programme received an award from the initiative Germany – Country of ideas.
